It is said that Japanese cars are the most reliable, but I like mercedes - benz and BMW. So which luxury car is REALLY the best one to buy?

Each has some advantage. Lexus is more reliable. BMW has more horsies. Those are my top two choices. Mercedes and Infiniti are worth a test, as are Cadillac and Lincoln. Bottom line, buy an Acura. You can not go too far wrong. Even full - size pickups have a comfortable ride
If you're after uncompromised style and sophistication, you already know the answer. You want a Benz. The BMW is luxury / sport and is an incredible car. Great gizmos and a real performer. Go drive a Jag too. Awesome ride and performance. I would not keep any of the above after the warranty expires. Repairs are too costly. Acura, Lexus and Infinity make better autos. Mb does not get the best reliabilty ratings according to consumer reports. I think BMW's are just over rated. Japanese cars are very good, no doubt there. The best luxury car is the one that you feel good in. I like my Impala b / c for the money, it is the best luxury I can afford. And it has all the toys I need. Oh and I have had it for 1 year and two months, and although you hear alot of people bad mouth American cars, I have had not one single problem with my Impala damnit! I also do my own preventive maintenence. Now I know my car is treated nice. Now back to your question, have you looked at Cadillac or Buick even? do not overlook them b / c they are getting alot of good ratings. Even consider a Nissan Maxima or Toyota Avalon. Now, I like my American cars, but if I could afford an Avalon, I'd be all in one. G'day

How are BMW's overrated? It seems that in every single tst, BMW wins hands down for performance. I agree with you on liking BMW and Benz's more than Lexus and Infiniti. It seems as if those cars have no soul and just look boring. Take fore example the Lexus LS. It is a great car packed in technology, and a wonderful engine. This is a great car, get Lexus manages to pack it in an extremely bland frame that is forgetable by most. I do not want my car to blend in if I am paying above USD 70, 000. It really depends on which model you prefer. 3 - Series is better that C - Cl 5 Series is better than E - Cl 7 Series is worse than S - Cl X3 is worse than ML X5 is better than GL Z4 is better than SLK 3 Series Coupe is better than CLK 6 Series is better than SL It really matters on opinion.
