How much is car insurance for older muscle cars?
October 31, 2008 - I heard that car insurance is pretty expensive for older muscle cars, and I'd like to know around how much a month car insurance would be for a 1968 ford mustang?
For auto insurance the obvious way to get a good rate is do a policy comparison on auto policies. Make sure that you compare similar policies with the same limits, car model, location, etc so that all things are an accurate comparison. What I usually recommend is an internet comparison quote at http://www.lowratetoday.com since they have discount insurers and can give multiple quotes on car insurance polices.

Actually, insurance on classic cars is really cheap if you get classic car insurance through someone like Grundy or Haggerty (see link for details). With dedicated classic car insurance, you and the insurance provider agree on the value of the classic car, then you pay a low premium to insure it. The premiums are low because the classic car insurance company assumes that owners of classic cars are going to drive carefully with them because, well, they're classics. They're are normally mileage restrictions to limit the insurer's liability as well (normally limits of 1000-5000 miles of driving per year depending on the company and the premium you're willing to pay). If you're talking about buying a '68 Mustang to use as a daily driver to put 12,000+ miles per year on it while using standard car insurance (like Allstate, State Farm etc.), it probably WILL be expensive because older cars have far less safety features than new ones and the cost to repair/replace classic cars is very high because older cars and their parts and people who work on them are generally very rare and expensive.
auto insurance companies has different offers and promos for their customers of course...also, to gain more help, its better if you also gave out your age and from what state you currently resides...well anyways, to add up on your options, here is a site I can refer you with http://www.autoinsuranceselect.com simply enter your area zip code and your good to go on knowing multiple auto insurance quotes on your area.
- It depends on more than the car. Look into Hagerty Insurance. It's full coverage, and it's usually less than $300 a year. Granted, there are a few conditions to that, but it's still worth looking into.
It depends on many factors. 1 - How is the car registered? Registering as a classic, collector or vintage can lower your rates, as most states provide restrictions on when these cars can be driven. 2 - Is it a factory optioned car? If you register as a normal car, you would be paying normal rates based on car, motor, etc... This will not cover extra value coverage (stereos, awesome paint job, etc..) 3 - In most cases of high end, highly customized, or extremely valuable cars, you'll have to carry a rider to cover anything over the normal "assessed" value of the vehicle. Best advice is to shop around. It all depends on vehicle, extras, location and carrier. Josh
